Graham’s strengths lie in swimming and running. He competed in school swimming and provincial swimming, high school athletics and high school cross country. He set the high school record for the 1500m track. Graham was a consistent feature in cross country often placing in the top 5 for the Pretoria high school division. His swimming got him into provincial swimming where he represented Gauteng (Northern Transvaal) and swam consecutively for the schools A team. He also set numerous records in high school and club swimming. His strongest event was the 1500m freestyle.
His triathlon career only started when he qualified for a spot in the South African junior development team to go to World champs in Cancun in 1995. From there Graham’s triathlon abilities improved full fold and he soon came to be known throughout South Africa. He went on to represent South Africa for three years nationally and at all Africa champs. Unfortunately injury took hold and prevented Graham from racing for over 2 years. He decided to pursue a career in IT in the UK from 2000 and is currently still doing this.
In 2003 he moved to California, where he found a new love for the sport and participated in sprint races where he consistently placed in his age group. In 2007 Graham put more effort into the sport and made an attempt at making the British Age group triathlon team. This goal was reached and Graham went on to represent Britian at the triathlon world champs in Hamburg Germany in September 2007. He achieved a great result at this race, putting in the 7th fastest swim time in his age group, finishing 23rd in his age group and placing 149th overall. Graham hopes to improve on these results at next 2008 world champs in Vancouver where he plans to place in the top 10.
